The immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has refuted claims of campaigning for the position of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing the circulated posters as “infantile, false, and should be disregarded.”
In a press release from his media office, Bello clarified that he did not authorize anyone to circulate posters on his behalf. He emphasized his commitment to the leadership of the party under Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, the current APC National Chairman.
The statement addressed the clandestine moves aimed at creating confusion within the APC hierarchy, attributing them to opposition leaders and internal detractors. It highlighted the circulation of campaign posters featuring Yahaya Bello’s image, insinuating his candidacy for the National Chairmanship position. Bello categorically denied such intentions, stating that the party is not in the process of conducting congresses or a convention.
The release asserted, “Let it be made abundantly clear that His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello did not authorize anyone to circulate any posters on his behalf as he remains a loyal party man who is committed to the leadership of the National Chairman of the Party, His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.”
The public was urged to disregard the circulated posters and the misinformation they might convey, emphasizing Bello’s steadfast loyalty to the current APC National Chairman.
