In a devastating incident along the Ogori-Magongo road in Kogi state, two lives were tragically lost in a motor accident, with a commercial motorcyclist (okada rider) and a female banker succumbing to the fatal crash.
The okada rider, identified as John Aisoni, met an untimely demise at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 2 PM on Thursday. The other victim, a female employee of a microfinance bank in the local government, initially survived the crash but later succumbed to her injuries at Ogori General Hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the collision was a result of over-speeding, involving a commercial motorcyclist and a Toyota Venza car. The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyedeji Samuel, confirmed the incident on Friday, attributing the accident to wrong overtaking.
“The accident was between a commercial motorcyclist and a Toyota Venza car. There was wrong overtaking which led to this ghastly motor accident. Two persons have been confirmed dead and have since been deposited in the morgue in nearby Edo State, while the other person is receiving treatment at Ogori General Hospital,” stated Oyedeji.
He urged motorists to exercise caution, avoid over-speeding, and adhere to all traffic rules to prevent such tragic incidents. The FRSC commander’s advice serves as a reminder for drivers to prioritize safety on the roads to avert unnecessary loss of lives.
