Janet Kyeme, a second-year student pursuing Library and Information Science at the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), has been declared missing after failing to return home from her commute to attend lectures at the university.
According to reports, Janet, who resides in Zango Area of the state capital, typically commutes to campus from her family house. On the fateful Friday morning, she embarked on her usual journey to school but did not return home as expected.
Concerns arose when her foster father, a pastor in Lokoja, realized that Janet had not returned from school and was unable to reach her as her phone was switched off. Despite efforts to locate her, including sending a family member to the school, Janet’s whereabouts remained unknown, heightening anxiety among her loved ones.
Authorities at the Federal University Lokoja assured that they were collaborating with security agencies and other relevant entities to ascertain Janet’s location. However, due to the sensitive nature of the situation, detailed information about the ongoing investigation was not disclosed.
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, stated that the case is currently being treated as a missing person report, as there has been no contact from potential abductors. The police are actively investigating the matter to ensure Janet’s safe return.
