Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central senatorial district, has expressed profound sorrow and dismay in response to the recent spate of violence and killings in Plateau State, describing the events as “one tragedy too many.”
According to the Plateau State Police Command, 96 individuals lost their lives, and 221 houses were set ablaze during attacks on Christmas Eve. However, Governor Caleb Mutfwang later revealed on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily that the death toll had risen to over 115.
Senator Natasha extended her heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Plateau, acknowledging that celebrating Christmas is challenging amid the somber reality of lives lost without just cause.
In a statement, she called for the swift arrest and prosecution of the culprits responsible for the heinous acts. Additionally, Senator Natasha urged the federal government to implement effective measures to prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents in the future.
