In a disturbing incident in Katsina State, the house and car of Mani Habu Abubakar were set ablaze on Tuesday night by a mob alleging blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed. The police intervened to control the situation and have launched a manhunt for those responsible. A statement from the police revealed that Commissioner Aliyu Musa held a meeting with stakeholders, including religious and opinion leaders, to ease tensions in the community and the state.

During the meeting, attended by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Ishaq Shehu, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and other relevant stakeholders, the police commissioner urged the community to embrace peace. He emphasized the commitment of the police to maintain peace, law, and order in Katsina State.

The Vice Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Katsina confirmed that relative calm had been restored, attributing it to proactive measures taken by the state’s Commissioner of Police. While normalcy has returned to the community, sources indicated that Abubakar and his family remained in hiding as of Thursday.
