Paul Gowon Haruna, a member of the 10th National Assembly representing Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency and a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has come under fire for donating a traditional well to his constituency. Haruna, a former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, initiated the project as a gesture of goodwill to his constituents.
The well donation has been met with significant criticism from residents of the constituency, who expressed their disapproval of the initiative. Speaking with SaharaReporters, a resident stated, “This is a project from a House of Representatives member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal constituency, what a shame, not even a mechanized hand pump.”
Another resident added, “It’s glaring these politicians don’t rate us, a federal lawmaker constructing a well and celebrating it as an achievement.”
The criticism highlights the growing discontent among constituents who feel that such projects are inadequate and fail to address their pressing needs effectively.
