The Chairman of the Lokoja Local Government Transition Committee, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, alongside the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youths and Students Affairs, Hon. Oladele John Nihi, conducted a visit to the communities of students affected by a recent robbery incident in Felele.
Expressing concern over the unfortunate event, the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, conveyed his sympathies to the victims while assuring them of the government’s commitment to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent future occurrences.
He reiterated the priority placed on the safety of lives and properties by Governor Usman Ododo, emphasizing that thorough investigations would be conducted to ensure justice is served.
Hon. Wemi Jones also commended the proactive security measures undertaken by the Local Government Chairman, acknowledging the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing security challenges.
In his address to the robbery victims, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu emphasized the importance of adhering to the imposed curfew from 10 pm to 5 am to facilitate smooth security operations. He assured the communities of ongoing security initiatives, including cooperation with relevant institutions like the Federal University Lokoja and Kogi State Polytechnic.
Furthermore, Comrade Adamu provided the students with contact details of the quick response team to enhance communication and swift action in emergency situations.
Representing the student community, Comrade Okehi Alimi expressed gratitude to both the State and Local Government for their visit and urged sustained security efforts in the area.
The visit underscores the collective commitment of government officials to prioritize the safety and well-being of students and residents in the affected communities.
