In its 31st matriculation ceremony, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, welcomed 4,349 students into the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs for the 2024/2025 academic session. The Rector, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, used the occasion to admonish students against engaging in examination malpractices and various vices.
The newly admitted students, distributed across different Schools and Departments, were urged to contribute positively to the institution’s image. Dr. Salisu emphasized the Polytechnic’s commitment to providing a student-centered environment conducive to both group and independent learning experiences.
The Rector reiterated the institution’s zero-tolerance policy for social vices, including cultism, gun-running, drug abuse, examination malpractice, and other forms of misconduct. He warned against the breach of rules, emphasizing that the ban on tribal associations on campus remains in force. The institution is keen on fostering collective harmony and coexistence.
Dr. Salisu urged students to be exemplary in their conduct, dress modestly, and adhere to acceptable standards. The Students’ Information Handbook, to be distributed through respective departments, will guide students on the institution’s policies.
The Rector concluded by highlighting the Polytechnic’s commitment to students’ personal growth and development, with the expectation that graduates will become responsible citizens contributing to the development of Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.
