Kogi State Police Commissioner Commend The Efforts of Adavi LG Chairman on Security Matters

Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, has charged officers to remain focused on their duties to protect lives in property.

Egbuka gave the charge when he visited the Adavi Police Division and other Divisions in Kogi Central senatorial district after an attack on the facility led to loss of lives of three police officers.

The Police Commissioner commended the executive chairman of Adavi local government, Joseph Omuya Salami, for being supportive and proactive in matters relating to security off his people.

He described the council chairman as “an ever-conscious, proactive, competent, and dedicated person.”

Egbuka thanked the local government chairman for his continuous support to security operatives and promised that the Nigeria Police will continue to partner with his administration to sustain peace.

“We commend you for your proactiveness and the courage you took during the tense hours, and since you assumed office just to make ensure the safety of your people.

“Your election as the Executive Chairman of Adavi LG must be due to your competence and it is never a missed priority,” he said.

He explained that his visit was to encourage his officers to keep fit and protect the lives and property of the citizens without losing focus or being demoralized because of the ugly incident that happened few days ago which led to the loss of three officers who were part of the Quick Response Unit deployed from the state command to Kogi Central on a special assignment.

He vowed that the unknown gunmen will be apprehended in no distant time.

He urged Police officers to strengthen their synergy with other security agencies down to local hunters, and community dwellers in other to create unity and be able to get useful information to work with.

Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami, in his speech, thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for authorizing him to serve his people and for also providing him with all the needed support.

He also thanked the Police Commissioner for deeming it fit to come over to sympathize with them, and to also encourage the security personnel.

He expressed optimism that the visit no doubt boost the morale of the security personnel and keep the tension away from the mind of the people.

“I stand to speak on behalf of the good people of Adavi LG, we will cooperate with Nigerian Police and every other security agencies in Adavi to make sure our environment and the people are well-protected.

“I also want to seize this opportunity once again to sympathize with the family of the officers who paid the supreme price in the course of duty, and the Nigeria Police Force. This is indeed a great loss. We pray that their departed soul shall continue to rest in peace,” he said.

The Executive Chairman of Adavi Local Government, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami, his counterparts from Okene and Ogori/Mangogo Local Governments, cabinet members, Ohi of Adavi, Adavi Joint Community Leaders, and some stakeholders were at Adavi Police Divisional headquarters to welcome Kogi State Commissioner of Police, and his entourage.
