The incident occurred at the Biodun and Associates filling station located in the Lokongoma Phase 1 area of Lokoja, causing panic among residents, business owners, and pedestrians in the vicinity. However, the quick thinking and bravery of the tanker driver, Dahiru Kabiru, who managed to drive the fuel-laden vehicle out of the filling station, helped prevent further escalation of the situation.

Upon receiving the distress call, officers from the Kogi State Fire Service swiftly arrived at the scene at 3:28 pm and efficiently extinguished the flames within less than 20 minutes. Salawu Ozigi Umar, the acting Director of the Fire Service, emphasized the readiness of the department to respond to any fire-related emergencies, ensuring the safety of the community.

During a visit to the scene, Kogi State Security Adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), acknowledged the natural occurrence of fire disasters and praised the long-standing operation of Biodun and Associates without previous incidents. He commended the tanker driver for his courageous actions and applauded the state fire service officers for their rapid response.

Commander Omodara confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident, and both the fuel and the tanker remained intact, thanks to the effective intervention of the fire service.
