Concerned residents of Felele town in Lokoja, Kogi State, have voiced their distress to the state government and security agencies regarding the escalating frequency of armed robbery incidents in their community.
The residents expressed profound anxiety as they have endured a month-long ordeal of heightened insecurity, leaving them sleepless and fearful for their safety. Notably, Felele town is home to the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) and the State Polytechnic (KSP), making it a significant hub for students residing in the area.
Reports indicate that armed robbers have been conducting daily raids across different neighborhoods, with the most recent attack occurring in the early hours of Monday around the vicinity of Motel 5 and Living Faith Church in Felele.
Distressed students, who constitute a significant population in the affected areas, have taken to social media platforms to draw attention to the precarious security situation. They implore the Kogi state government to prioritize the safety of residents, particularly students residing in Felele and Crusher areas of Lokoja.
One concerned individual, Bashir Tijani, underscored the urgency for government intervention, emphasizing the vulnerability of student lodges to these criminal activities. Similarly, Abdulsalam Abdullahi, in a plea directed at Federal University Lokoja, highlighted the imperative of swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of students residing in the affected neighborhoods.
