The Kogi State House of Assembly has made the decision to reinstate three Local Government Council Chairmen and a Local Government Secretary who were previously suspended on allegations of terrorism and electoral violence.

The council chairmen, namely Goke Oparison of Ogori/Magongo, Pius Kolawole of Yagba West, and Muktar Muhammed of Bassa, were cleared of the alleged crimes following a correspondence received from the Department of State Security Service, which absolved them of any wrongdoing.

In a unanimous voice vote, the House lifted the suspension order on the three council chairmen, thereby reinstating them to their positions.

In addition, the Assembly also reinstated Alex Obaropo as the Secretary of Ijumu Local Government. Obaropo had been removed from office by the legislative council, but his reinstatement was based on a correspondence received from Governor Yahaya Bello, as read by Speaker Mathew Kolawole.

The Speaker clarified that the House was not involved in the removal of the reinstated Council Secretary and directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolution of the House to the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government, Hon Taofiq Isah.

With these decisions, the Kogi State House of Assembly aims to restore stability and ensure effective governance in the affected local government councils, in accordance with the received correspondences and the best interests of the state and its constituents.
