A blog is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries. Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page. Wikipedia
How to start a blog to make money in easy steps:
1st Step: Choose the name and niche of your blog
To get started you need to choose a name and a niche for your new blog.
Your blog name is what readers will see first (like nanoservices.com.com.ng). Ideally it should represent the general topics you will be writing about, or it could be your own name (like LindaIkeji.com), the name of your business (like NanoServices.com.ng); or a clever combination of words (like NaijaLoaded.com), or otherwise.
The niche of your blog, that is, the topic that you will talk about is the general topic area that you will focus your content on. Examples include very diverse topics such as News, Music, travel, politics, fashion, home and garden, technology and among others.
Incorporating a word or two that clearly signal what your content is about, within your blog name, will be very helpful to future readers of your blog.
2nd Step: Buy Hosting and Domain Name
The second step in starting a blog is to put your blog, site online. That is what a web hosting company will do for you. In this step, you will select the blogging platform and web hosting plan that you will use to get your blog online.
Some of the best services can be found at Smartweb.com.ng , WhoGoHost , Hostgator.com, Namecheap among many others.
Now it is time you choose the domain name of your blog, You will then be brought to the page where it’s time to choose your blog’s domain name. You can buy it in the same hosting service where you have contracted the hosting service. Or you can also buy a domain on another platform.
If you do not have experience, it is best to start by buying a domain name on the same hosting server that you have previously hired, all these might be tricky or to technical for you, don’t worry you can always hire someone to set you up. You can contact me for such service.
3rd Step: Design your blog with a free WordPress theme
Now that we have passed the stage of buying the domain and hosting, it is time to start designing the blog. This is the most fun part of the whole process.
To do this, it is best to use WordPress. It is a free platform that you will find in any of the hosting servers you choose. Installation is very simple. The service that you are going to choose, will indicate the simple steps that you must follow to work your blog, with WordPress.
If you find that creating a blog with WordPress is complicated (something I don’t think so), on YouTube you will find many tutorials that can help you through the process.
4rth Step: Write your first blog post
Do you visit a blog or website because it is beautiful, because you download latest music from there frequently or because it generates good content? While all three factors are important, what matters most is the quality of the content. It must be original, relevant and well written.
A very good example of a blog post is the content you are reading right now.
Creating solid content is what will bring you readers and help you make money blogging.
Before you get too far down the road of creating a blog business plan, designing your content roadmap, and writing your first blog post, you need to answer a few very simple questions.
- Why do I care about the topic I’m going to blog about?
- Why should other people listen to what I have to say?
- Is this a topic that I can talk about and add value to?
To answer these questions, I like to think of a blog like any other business and re-emphasize the importance of choosing a clear niche.
Ways to generate smart blog post ideas.
Here is a simple process I use to create the specific blog posts I write for my own blogs.
See what other bloggers in my niche have covered and see what they’ve done well.
I take a look at my most successful posts to see what readers like best.
Make more dating roundup posts (like my posts on trading tips and online trading tools) that don’t require a ton of original thought and effort on my part.
Chatting with bloggers in my space and generating new ideas.
Speaking of specific lessons I learned recently.
Reflecting on the blogging mistakes I’ve made and the tactics that work today.
5th Step: Promote your blog and get readers
Now that 2022 is going gradually, I can look back and see that my blog attracted over 500,000 readers last year alone. We are going to use my experience to go from starting a blog to quickly attracting thousands of readers to my content.
What do you do once you hit publish on your first few blog posts? It’s time to learn how to promote your blog content.
Using social media to promote your blog
The first place you should think of when you want to find readers is social media. Yes, these are the right place to find the target audience. Facebook, Twitter, Nairaland, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Reddit, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok are some of the biggest networks today.
Whichever platform best suits your niche and audience interests is the one for you. And that’s an important note.
To gain audience from social networks, you can use various strategies. Create a fan page, a Facebook group, pay for ads, create a Linkedin profile, a Twitter account, etc. On almost all platforms you can pay per visit.
You can also opt for Google ADS, the best ads platform. You will reach a stream of people, highly interested in your content.
6th Step: Earn money with your blog
Investigating some of the main blogs in Nigeria, on average the income last year was from 400 thousand to 1 million dollars. Of course we consider that several of these blogs investigated, have some time online. They are constantly worked on by their owners and are innovating almost permanently.
When I asked about the expenses that were generated, the vast majority answered that it was between 3 and 5% of the total earned. Practically nothing. !
There’s a Reason Why Make Money From Your Blog is at the end of this guide to starting a blog. Unless you already have a huge audience somewhere, you can’t expect to make money right away – monetization shouldn’t be your number one focus right now, but something you need to work on.
Ways to monetize your blog
Still, it’s good to get an idea of the ways you’d like to make money blogging as you go on this new venture. Some of these monetization strategies will be easier to implement than others as your readership continues to grow.
Freelance work (selling your services)
If you want to start earning from your blog as quickly as possible, selling your services (by getting blogging jobs, freelance writing jobs, or selling your expertise as a service) is by far the easiest option. for example, I am a Website Developer and I help people with their businesses online, so when I am not writing I am definitely working for a client.
Affiliate Programs
Every month, many affiliates earn a substantial amount of passive income from affiliate programs. Some of the most popular affiliate programs are: Clickbank, Hotmart, Paydot, among many others. But the reality is that you can join almost any service and earn money as an affiliate.
For example your hosting service, Amazon, among many others. So it’s just about choosing the best program. The one that is according to your niche and start making money.
Sponsored blog content
Unless you already have a decent sized audience on your blog (or social accounts), it will take some time to grow your readership to the point where sponsored content is a viable monetization option.
Online Courses
If you have a skill or experience that you think others might want to learn too, then use that blog to market your course.
Traditional blog ads (ad networks)
This is another way to make money with a blog, which is excellent. No need to sell anything. Only attract traffic interested in your content. If visitors come because they are interested in what you have to say. The commercials will perform very well for you.
The way ad networks work is simple. Suppose you have a fruit tree blog. Its content is based on that theme. Well, ad networks will show ads on the same or similar topics. Therefore, your job will be to attract an audience that is really interested in what you have to say.
One of the best known networks in the world is Google AdSense. You need to create a blog like this, generate good quality content, get people to visit it. And everything is fine, soon you will have the announcements of big time success.
