The final resting place for Dr. Herbert Wigwe, former Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, his wife, Doreen Chizoba, and their first son, Chizzy, has been established within the grounds of Wigwe University, a testament to his legacy in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Following a somber funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Isiokpo, the bodies were interred in a private mausoleum on the premises around 2:45 pm on Saturday. Tears flowed freely as family and friends bid their final farewells.
Tragically, Wigwe, his wife, and son lost their lives in a helicopter crash near the Nevada border in California, United States of America. Also involved in the accident was Abimbola Ogunbanjo, Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc.
In attendance at the funeral were distinguished guests including Governors Kayode Fayemi, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Bukola Saraki, as well as prominent figures such as Aliko Dangote, Sanusi Lamido, Alex Otti, Dapo Abiodun, and Babajide Sawno-Olu.
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, pledged the state government’s unwavering support to Wigwe University, underscoring its significance in the region. The funeral service and burial were poignant moments of reflection and tribute to the lives lost in the tragic accident.
