On Thursday, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State distributed security gadgets to 1,050 hunters as part of his administration’s efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of the state’s residents.
During the distribution event, Governor Ododo emphasized his commitment to maintaining peace and security in Kogi State, declaring that the state will not tolerate criminal activities. He urged the hunters to work professionally and collaborate with other security agencies to eradicate crime.
“My administration has adopted both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to ensure the security of our people,” Governor Ododo stated. “Kogites, we must protect ourselves. If we don’t do it, nobody will do it for us. Kogi State is not a free trade zone for criminals. When you see them, deal with them decisively. Criminals must be wiped out of our land.”
Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bertrand Onuoha, highlighted that the distributed items are intended to support conventional security agencies in addressing security challenges. He praised the Governor for his proactive measures in securing lives and property and called for greater integration among various security agencies to enhance their effectiveness.
“All of us know the topography of Kogi State, which poses security challenges,” Onuoha noted. “If all these security agencies are established without synergy, much will not be achieved. I have directed Area Commanders to always make use of vigilantes and hunters. When we harmonize, our services will be more effective.”
He encouraged the hunters and vigilantes to work closely with other security forces to protect law-abiding citizens and tackle criminal elements in Kogi State.
