The Kogi state government has issued a query to the Ohimege Igu of Kotonkarfe, HRM Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, regarding the death of a female supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the November governorship election in the state.

The incident involved the killing of Khadijat Yahaya, an APC supporter, in front of the palace in October during a campaign rally for the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, in Kotonkarfe.

While the SDP alleged that Khadijat was one of the thugs attacking their campaign, the APC claimed she was killed by Ajaka’s supporters during their party walk in the town.

In a surprising turn of events, the state government has now raised concerns with the Ohimege for permitting such a tragic incident to occur at his residence.

The query asserts that the Ohimege’s actions or inactions led to a security breach in his domain, necessitating an immediate response from him.

Although the Ohimege has not publicly commented on the query, sources from the palace indicate that the traditional ruler has officially responded to the state government’s inquiry.

“The Sultan of Sokoto and other prominent personalities have been informed about the situation and are already intervening,” the source disclosed.

However, the source emphasized that the query related to the APC women supporter serves as a distraction. It is noted that they were forewarned that the governor perceives the Ohimege did not openly support the governor’s candidate, Usman Ododo, in the recently concluded governorship election.
