Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has committed to enhancing the welfare and safety of state workers. During a speech on Workers’ Day 2024 in Lokoja, he highlighted his administration’s focus on boosting worker efficiency and productivity through improved welfare initiatives, including a health insurance scheme that offers affordable quality healthcare.
Governor Ododo also addressed the security of lives and property, noting that his government has strengthened rural safety by equipping vigilante groups with vehicles and motorcycles. He assured continuous dialogue with labor leaders to methodically address their concerns and urged workers to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiatives.
Meanwhile, the state NLC Chairman, Comrade Gabriel Amari, called for the implementation of a Wage Award to increase the minimum wage from N30,000 to N35,000. This adjustment, he argued, is crucial to help workers cope with rising living costs until a new minimum wage is negotiated and implemented.
