Former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Usman Jibril, has secured the governorship ticket of the Accord Party as their candidate for the upcoming Kogi Governorship election.
Admiral Jibril, previously affiliated with the All Progressive Congress (APC) and a former APC governorship aspirant in 2019, was unanimously chosen by delegates on Tuesday to represent the party. The decision was made during the party’s primary held at Kefas multi-purpose hall in Lokoja.
During his acceptance speech, Admiral Jibril expressed his commitment to a rescue mission, vowing to bring about a transformation in Kogi state if elected as its next Governor. He pledged to abolish the practice of paying workers at the local government level a percentage of their salaries and assured civil servants that they would not regret their decision if he assumed office.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the state under the current administration, the former Admiral affirmed his preparedness to confront any obstacles that lie ahead in the election. Additionally, he made a promise to prioritize the development of Lokoja, the capital city of Kogi state.
