FCT Police Raid Bandits’ Relaxation Camp in Abuja, Arrest 311 Suspects

In a decisive operation, the operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have apprehended a total of 311 suspects – comprising 297 males and 14 females – at a bandits’ relaxation camp known as “Game House” in Gidan Dambe, Dei Dei, Abuja.

The raid, conducted based on credible intelligence, resulted in the swift apprehension of the suspects within a span of 20 minutes upon storming the area. FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, disclosed these details during a parade of the arrested individuals at the Intelligence Response Team unit (formerly Special Anti-Robbery Squad) in Guzape, Abuja.

During the operation, law enforcement recovered a cache of weapons and items, including guns, ammunition, swords, knives, axes, daggers, motorcycles, and numerous mobile phones from the camp.

According to Igweh, the raid was prompted by information indicating that bandits, kidnappers, and armed robbers frequented the “Game House” to unwind and socialize after engaging in criminal activities.

Among the seized items was an English Pistol with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition found in possession of an individual claiming to be a Department of State Services (DSS) personnel named Ibrahim Tukur.

Additionally, the operation uncovered motorcycles, wraps of marijuana, illicit substances, and valuables suspected to have been stolen from innocent residents.

Currently, all suspects are undergoing screening as part of the ongoing investigation.

The FCT has witnessed a surge in kidnapping and banditry incidents in recent times. Notably, in January 2024, the Special Intervention Squad of the FCT Police Command neutralized three notorious bandits in a forest within the Bwari area of Abuja. Similarly, a notorious kidnap kingpin, Janari, along with his accomplices, was eliminated during operations conducted by Operation Whirl Punch in Kaduna state, targeting criminal activities in the region.
