The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State, CD Paul Igwebuike, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Corps to ensuring maximum security during the Easter celebrations across the state. To this end, Igwebuike has deployed over 1,752 officers and men of the NSCDC to various strategic locations.
In a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Abdullahi Aliyu, and made available to journalists in Lokoja, it was highlighted that the deployment of personnel aligns with the directive of the Commandant General, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to provide robust security during the festive period.
The deployment covers flashpoints within the state and its environs, as well as worship centers and critical national assets and infrastructure. Commandant Igwebuike has instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and all other relevant units and departments to adhere strictly to the NSCDC’s standard operational procedures as provided by the Commandant General.
The statement also emphasized the importance of cooperation from the public in reporting suspicious activities to the NSCDC. Furthermore, personnel have been urged to observe the rules of engagement in accordance with global best practices.
While ensuring security measures are in place, the Commandant also called on Christians to reflect on the significance of Easter, which commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He urged them to avoid actions that could lead to conflicts with the law, promoting peace and harmony during the festive season.
