The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has inaugurated an 11-member committee tasked with reviewing the outcomes of the November 11 governorship election in the state. The State Chairman of the party, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, officiated the inauguration at the party secretariat in Lokoja on Tuesday.

Additionally, the committee will review and clearly state the roles and performances of party members responsible for conducting the election before, during, and after the exercise.

The chairman emphasized that the committee’s responsibilities include undertaking a detailed review of the processes leading up to the election and evaluating its execution across all 21 local government areas of the state.

Hon. Bello stressed the importance of identifying party members who displayed disloyalty and anti-party activities, recommending disciplinary actions as necessary, and recognizing and rewarding those who remained faithful.

He stated, “Although the election has come and gone, the resultant effects and fallouts are still very much with us. It is a fact that while we performed excellently in many Local Councils, our results in many others fell short of expectation.”

Highlighting the uniqueness of the committee, the chairman noted that this was the first time such a committee had been instituted in the operations of the party. The committee’s establishment reflects the party’s commitment to understanding the dynamics and events that unfolded in each of the 21 LGAs before, during, and after the election on November 11, 2023.

Members of the committee include Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf (Chairman), Prof. Usman Ogbo (Secretary), Hon. Funsho Olumoko, Barr. James Fabola, Sen. Atai Aidoko, Hon. Yakubu Okala, Hon. Idris Ozi Shaib, Hon. Abdulsalami Ibrahim Ahovi, Barr. Ladi Jatto, Alh. Hadi Ametuo, and Hon. Abubakar Bashir Gegu. The committee is expected to provide insights into the election process and contribute to the party’s future strategies based on its findings.
