In September 2022, many banks discontinued the use of Naira cards for international spending due to foreign exchange market realities. This change took effect on September 30, 2022, leaving customers unable to use their Naira Mastercard, Naira Credit Card, Virtual card, and Visa Prepaid Naira card for international transactions.
However, there is good news as WEMA Bank has introduced a new update that allows customers to use their Naira cards for international spending. According to a recent mail sent by the bank, customers can now enjoy international transactions using their Naira cards, including Mastercard, ALAT Mastercard, and Visa. The monthly spending limit for international transactions is set at $500.
Here’s what you need to know about this development:
- Expanded Possibilities: With the Naira card, you now have the freedom to make international purchases, explore online stores worldwide, and buy from your favorite international brands. The world is now at your fingertips!
- Monthly Limit: To ensure enhanced security and control, there is a monthly spending limit of $500 for international transactions. This limit allows you to manage your expenses responsibly while enjoying the benefits of international spending.
- Effortless Convenience: Your Naira card provides you with the convenience of making payments in foreign currencies, eliminating the need for currency conversion or carrying excess cash. It offers a hassle-free and secure way to shop and transact abroad.
To access the ALAT Naira card for international transactions, you can download the ALAT app from the Google Play Store or Apple Store. If you don’t have an account with WEMA, you can sign up using the referral code: MMZFPS81
We hope that other banks will soon lift the restrictions on Naira card international spending, allowing more customers to enjoy seamless international transactions.
