I was discussing with some of my friends, about how messy it is this days that so many people are loosing their identities in the world today either through migration or occupation.
I was going through some messages from Ebira people online to me and I can say that their are more people out there like myself that has lost this identity. I am better compared to some people, at least in 2015 I sat myself down, thought about what I can really do for myself, I decided I need to do some research about Ebiraland and to also learn the language very well, and thank God today I can speak Ebira Language fluently that I speak around noble men, and all I use is Ebira Language.
So if you want to make your identity to be known, or you want to be spotted on by fellow Ebira People anywhere you are, then these 4 things are what you need to keep in mind.
How can you identify Ebira People?
- Traditional Attire
- Beads
- Tribal Marks
- Beauty
1. Ebira Traditional Attire
Yes! The Ebira People’s Traditional Attire is the very first and the best unique identification for Ebira People worldwide, and the reason for this, is because the weaving, in terms of the stripes (designs) is very very unique and authentic.
Though, there is diversity in the choosing of patters of how the attires are within the Ebira people. Each clans have their own various attires that defers from each other, but there is only one design that unites the whole Ebira Tao together, and that is the one called “Ita Oku’Eta” this particular attire unites Ebira people together.
With all the diversity among the clans in Ebiraland, someone can easily says that it’s through Ita Oku’Eta that one can identify an Ebira person easily. Some Ebira Clan’s attire looks more closely like other tribes, a very typical example is my clan “Ozudu” the Ozudu’s clan attire looks similar to that of TIV people of Benue.
2. Ebira Fashion Beads
The Ebira fashion beads are now a thing of pride these days, you will hardly see an Ebira Girl without an Ebira bead around her neck or wrist, it is almost impossible to find
Types of Ebira Fashion Beads.
Since there are plethora of beads in the world, Ebira people are not left out of those people God has blessed with an identity in terms of beads also known as “Uwei” in Ebira Language.
- Omoh – The most expensive Ebira People’s fashion beads, it’s valued along side Gold.
- Isuu – Isuu is the next in line after Omoh is quite expensive too but not like Omoh, it’s valued along side Silver.
- Ovene – Ovene is the blue one and the most common as it’s cheap and affordable
